Obituary of Daniel John Castagna

January 17, 2022

Daniel John Castagna
1948-2022

Daniel was a true native New Yorker. Born in Manhattan, grew up in Washington Heights and later moved to Greenwich Village in lower Manhattan. There he resided with his wife Ines, who shared his love of the Village.

Daniel was a very giving, generous and caring person who always put the welfare of others before himself. To his friends, Daniel was a great man who will be greatly missed. Daniel was a loving son, who, after the death of his father, when he was twenty years old, cared for his mother until she passed at the age of 98. To his wife Ines, Daniel was always supportive, encouraging and protective. Her affectionate name for him was and will always be "Bello".

Daniel worked as a Project/Tour Manager overseeing various musical acts as they toured nationally and internationally. Among them, John Denver, Adam and the Ants, the Clash and Frank Sinatra's Comeback Tour.

When he wasn't touring, Daniel liked to drive a yellow cab which enhanced his encyclopedic knowledge of the city he loved.

It was well known by all who knew him that Daniel loved the beach, his favorite being Jones Beach. He would scour the weather reports so that he could be ready for those perfect beach days. Imagine his glee when he met the love of his life Ines, at the beach on Fire Island and as faith would have it, she loved the beach too!

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife Ines, sister Donna and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or National Lung Association.

Memorial service to be held at a future date.

So very glad I met Bello when I visited the Big Apple back in 1995 and 2001. His hospitality at his apartment will always be appreciated and cherished allowing myself to stay and see the incredible city which he lived in. I remember him telling me that I had acquired the "NY walk" in record time, lol. Rest easy Bello and Thank you for taking such good care of "Betty".
