Obituary of Frances Indelicato DiLiberto

June 6, 2020

Frances DiLiberto, née Indelicato, best known as "Babe", passed away peacefully in her home on June 6th, 2020.

Born on January 21, 1933, Babe was a true New Yorker surrounded by her large Sicilian family in Little Italy. Widow of Sam DiLiberto; Loving mother of Sally, Chetta, and Anthony; the mother in law to Anthony Capparelli and Diane Leung; cherished grandmother of Anthony, Simone, Nico, Kayla, Samantha, Marilyn, and Dominic. Devoted sister of Sonny, Marie, Joey, and Graceann; and Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Babe was like a mother to many, beyond her own children. She lived a life of unconditional love and independence, and never failed to have a story to tell or lesson to teach in every situation. Often her lessons came in the form of recipes, many knew Babe as an outstanding cook with the best meatballs around. She was strong, she refused to let anyone tell her how to think or to sway her opinions. Babe was incredibly prideful and proud of the family she built. She was truly the matriarch of her family, always providing a hand to hold or a laugh to be had. Along with being the matriarch, she was also essentially the family historian, she knew everyone's stories.

With Babe, it seemed as if her knowledge was forever expanding, she loved watching Jeopardy, and she spent her afternoons reading the newspaper and filling in the crossword puzzles. Her door was always open with a seat at her table, she was accepting of everyone, regardless of who it may have been.

Through much adversity, sorrow, and illness, Babe would always remind us, "and this too shall pass" and when her family said "I love you", she'd always respond with "Love you more."

Babe will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends. In lieu of flowers please donate to her Tribute page to support Parkinson's Disease research at The Michael J. Fox Foundation. A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
