Obituary of Kevin Michael Rawlings

Kevin Michael Rawlings, 31, of New York, NY, passed away on May 4, 2023.
Kevin was born on September 28, 1991, in Rockville, MD; the son of Mark and Barbara (Van Horn) Rawlings. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, with a minor in Mathematical Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University.

Kevin worked as a Senior Software Engineer for Google for 7-1/2 years, in both Mountain View, CA, and New York, NY. This included 3-years at Google’s self-driving car subsidiary, Waymo, where Kevin received two software patents. Kevin left Google for a year (Feb 2021 to Feb 2022) to work as a Core Developer at Hudson River Trading in New York City.

Growing up in the suburbs of Maryland, Kevin excelled at sports, including baseball and swimming. He was an enthusiastic runner and weight-lifter, always trying to outdo his personal best records. Kevin enjoyed playing Texas Hold’em with friends, and recently started playing pickleball and kickball.

Kevin is survived by his parents, Mark and Barbara Rawlings of Lake Frederick, VA, his paternal grandmother, Norma Rawlings of Ellicott City, MD, his sister Jennifer Wernly (Mark) of Norfolk, VA, and his three nieces, Anna, Eleanor, and Kara.

Kevin was a wonderful son, sibling, and Uncle, and we will forever miss him dearly.
