Obituary of Maria Ferreira

Maria Ferreira passed away on January 10, 2026. She was born on November 30, 1934, in Portugal. In 1956 she emigrated to the United States with her husband Elio in search of a better life. Maria made her home in Greenwich Village and raised her three daughters Maria Luisa, Elvira, and Elizabeth. She worked as a seamstress for 30 years.

Maria was a devoted member of Saint Anthony's Church and a part of the Greenwich Village community. She formed lasting friendships. In her later years, she retired and moved to Riverdale, where she lived for the past 25 years enjoying a quieter life surrounded by her family.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law Louis, grandchildren Michael, Ricky, Rosalina, Melissa, Matthew, John, and the late Manuel. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Elio, daughters Maria Luisa and Elvira, and her grandson, Manuel.
