Jose Antonio Simoes passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, family devotion, and community spirit.

Born in Portugal, Jose made the life-changing journey to New York in the 1970s. It was there that he built a beautiful life, marrying his beloved wife, Verona, and raising his family. For decades, their home on Sullivan Street was the heart of their daily lives, filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

Jose was a devout faith-filled man and a pillar of his community. He was a deeply dedicated, active member and familiar face at St. Anthony’s Church, where he proudly served his parish as an usher for many years.

He is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife, Verona; his cherished daughter, Melissa; his parents, Joaquim and Maria; and his brother, Fernando.

His memory will be forever kept alive by his loving daughter, Ana; his adored granddaughters, Verona, Nixaliz, and Aliya; his siblings, Amelia, Luis, and John; and a large, vibrant extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss his presence dearly.
